SOLAR CONTROLLERS

Our range of solar controllers are tried and tested models. From basic 12V MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar controllers to Some of the most advance high voltage controllers on the market. Its important when selecting a controller to really look at what you need to acheive as well as your budget. 

If your just looking to run a really basic setup then its hard to go past the Redarc range of BCDC units. They combine both DCDC Charger and a MPPT Solar controller in the one unit. Keep in mind the following 2 points with these. 1) Maximum input voltage is 32VDC, so only 12V panels can be used. 2) The rated output (25,40 or 50A) is the combined solar and dcdc, with Solar being the priority.

When you want to setup it up a notch then the Victron MPPT solar regs are your go to, with there base units being able to handle up to 75VDC on there PV (Solar) input. With an MPPT Controller the Solar voltage needs to be atleast 5V higher than the battery voltage to start charging. So if you can run higher voltage panels then they can acheive this faster with less light. Meaning you will get charge current earlier in the morning and later at night as well as on overcast days. They also have the benifet of having Bluetooth control and monitoring on there smart series of controllers. Allowing you to see what going on and how much charge you are getting.
